1. Introduction

wegotit.ai is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user of our service.

wegotit.ai is operated by Online World Solutions, a sole proprietorship registered in British Columbia, Canada. This policy is governed by BC’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada’s federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Account information: Your name and email address, collected via Google OAuth when you sign in to wegotit.ai.
  • Search queries: Queries you submit are processed by our AI engine and stored in our database (Google Firestore) to support your research workspaces (“Stories”).
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and session duration — collected via Google Analytics 4.
  • Device and technical data: Browser type, IP address, and operating system, collected through standard server logs.
  • Cookies: Authentication session cookies (necessary for the service), analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4 via Google Tag Manager), and advertising-attribution cookies (LinkedIn Insight Tag — used to measure the performance of LinkedIn marketing campaigns and build retargeting audiences).
  • Advertising attribution data: When you visit wegotit.ai after clicking a LinkedIn advertisement, LinkedIn receives a notification that the visit occurred and may match it to your LinkedIn profile to measure ad performance and serve you relevant follow-up advertising. We do not receive your LinkedIn profile from this process — only aggregate campaign performance metrics.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • To provide and improve the wegotit.ai service.
  • To authenticate your identity and maintain your account.
  • To save and retrieve your research Stories and search history.
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve product features.
  • To communicate service updates (we do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent).

We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties under any circumstances.

4. Third-Party Services We Use

We use the following third-party services to operate wegotit.ai. Each service receives only the data necessary for its function:

  • Google OAuth (authentication): Your email address and name are used to authenticate your identity.
  • Firebase / Firestore (Google): Stores your account data, search queries, and Stories workspaces.
  • Google Analytics 4: Receives anonymized usage analytics to help us understand product usage.
  • Google Tag Manager: Loads and manages third-party measurement scripts (such as the LinkedIn Insight Tag below). Google Tag Manager itself does not collect personal information about you, but it loads other tools that may.
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag (LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company): When you visit wegotit.ai, this tag tells LinkedIn that the visit occurred. LinkedIn uses this data to measure the performance of our marketing campaigns, to build retargeting audiences (so we can show follow-up ads to people who visited wegotit.ai), and to provide aggregate demographic insights about our visitors. The LinkedIn Insight Tag drops cookies including li_sugr, bcookie, lidc, and UserMatchHistory. You can opt out at any time — see Section 8 (Cookies) below.
  • Gemini AI (Google): Your search queries are processed to generate AI-powered answers.
  • Meilisearch: Search queries are indexed to support full-text search functionality.
  • YouTube Data API: Public video metadata is retrieved based on your search query.
  • Unsplash API: Images are retrieved based on your search query.
  • Google Custom Search API: Web search results are retrieved based on your query.
  • NewsAPI: News articles are retrieved based on your search query.
  • GDELT: Global news event data is retrieved based on your search query.

Note: All third-party services operate under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them independently.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data: Retained for as long as your account remains active.
  • Search queries and Stories: Retained until you delete them or close your account.
  • Analytics data: Retained per Google Analytics retention settings (default: 14 months).

You may request deletion of your data at any time (see “Your Rights” below).

6. Data Security

  • Data is stored in Google Firebase, which provides industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit (TLS/HTTPS).
  • Access to your data is controlled via Firebase Authentication.
  • We follow current security best practices; however, no system is completely secure.
  • In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

7. Your Rights (BC PIPA / PIPEDA)

Under BC’s PIPA and federal PIPEDA, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal information that we hold.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated personal data.
  • Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw consent to non-essential data processing at any time.

8. Cookies

wegotit.ai uses three categories of cookies:

  • Necessary cookies: Used for authentication and session management — these cannot be disabled as they are essential to the service.
  • Analytics cookies: Used by Google Analytics 4 (loaded via Google Tag Manager) to collect anonymized usage data such as page views, session duration, and traffic sources. You may opt out via your browser settings, by installing Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by emailing us at ask@wegotit.ai to request removal of your data.
  • Advertising-attribution cookies: The LinkedIn Insight Tag drops cookies (li_sugr, bcookie, lidc, UserMatchHistory, and similar) that allow LinkedIn to measure the performance of our marketing campaigns and to retarget visitors with relevant follow-up advertising on the LinkedIn platform. These cookies do not allow us to see who you are personally; LinkedIn handles that match on its own systems. You can opt out by:
    • Adjusting your LinkedIn advertising preferences if you have a LinkedIn account.
    • Blocking third-party cookies in your browser settings.
    • Using a privacy-focused browser extension such as Privacy Badger or uBlock Origin.

We do not sell cookie data, search queries, or any other personal information to third parties under any circumstances. Our use of advertising cookies is limited to measuring the performance of our own marketing on platforms where we advertise (currently: LinkedIn) and to retargeting visitors with our own follow-up ads — not to selling or sharing data for unrelated advertising.

9. Children’s Privacy

wegotit.ai is not intended for use by persons under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or store personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

10. International Users

This service is operated from British Columbia, Canada. If you access wegotit.ai from outside Canada, your personal data will be processed in Canada and through Google’s global infrastructure. By using this service, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in Canada and other jurisdictions where Google operates.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will notify registered users by email at least 7 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. The effective date at the top of this policy will always reflect the most recent update.
